The next series of Lure Masters Online Open tournaments is just around the corner and many people have already signed in. Make sure to sign up as soon as possible if you plan to participate as you will need the official Lure Masters Measuring board in order to score fish. (The board of earlier editions can be re-used of course)
The concept will be the same as in previous editions:

2021 Lure Masters Trophy Fishing Zones

The first three Lure Masters Online Open events turned out to be very exciting and eventful in many ways. Not only do we have two winners in the Online Perch Open because <a href="/profile/goran.vidakovic">Goran Vidakovic</a> and <a href="/profile/kilian.grimm">Kilian Grimm</a> managed to score the exact same length of all 5 scoring perch, but also did we have a very special pike that created a lot of &#8220;trouble&#8221;.
Right in the first week of the A.S.O. Online Pike Open <a href="/profile/kai.pohl">Kai Pohl</a> managed to catch a massive northern pike of 133 cm in the Netherlands that gave him valuable points for the ranking. At the same time this pike was the biggest one ever reported in the newly developed Lure Masters Online Open format. The fish was released back into the water after the quick measuring.
Then, on the last day of competition, the Lure Masters Jury received another report of a huge pike with 133 cm that was caught by the Belgian Angler <a href="/profile/johnny.vanalken">Johnny Vanalken</a> in the Netherlands. Johnny already said that it must be the same fish as caught 5 weeks earlier by Kai Pohl.

As our rules for the Online Open include that a fish can only be scored one time per tournament, the Lure Master Jury found themselves in a very difficult situation. As there was no doubt that this impressive pike was caught in a 100% legal manner, just a few weeks later, we talked to Johnny himself first and told him that we are in conflict with our rules. But as the intention of our rule is totally different we agreed to talk to everyone who is affected by the changes in the leaderboard personally. It was quite impressive to see that nobody had any doubt to score this impressive fish and we are happy that we can say that this record fish can be scored twice in the competition.



Later on we received feedback of other anglers who have caught this particular fish years before and we think this is a very good prove that catch and release does have a very positive impact on our fisheries. At the same time we think this fish loves to come aboard for a short visit and a photo. Lets see if it will show up in the next event again.

Huge northern pike caught twice within one competition

The story of a giant pike that loves attention

With a field of 103 anglers, the ActiveTarget Online Zander Open, presented by <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.lowrance.com" target="_blank">Lowrance</a>, was the most attended Online Open out of the first series. The field was packed by many well known European Zander anglers such as <a href="/profile/jeremy.staverman">Jeremy Staverman</a>, <a href="/profile/igor.vucenic">Igor Vucenic</a>, <a href="/profile/julian.dicke">Julian Dicke</a>, <a href="/profile/fredrik.harbort">Freddy Harbort</a>, <a href="/profile/charles.roling">Charles Roling</a> and <a href="/tournaments/events/active-target-zander-open#anglers">many more</a>.



It was amazing to see what the field of competitors was able to catch and report during the event with many fish over 90 cm and even three fish over the magic one meter mark.



In the end it came down to <a href="/profile/ben.quack">Ben Quack</a>, <a href="/profile/fredrik.harbort">Freddy Harbort</a> and <a href="/profile/christoph.barra" data-type="URL" data-id="/profile/christoph.barra">Christoph Barra</a> to decide who will will be crowned the first Online Zander Open Champion and with the top prize provided by Lowrance: The brand new ActiveTarget transducer kit together with the flagship fishfinder HDS Live 9&#8243; and ActiveImaging 3-in-1 transducer.



With almost breaking the 500 cm mark for 5 Zander, Christopher Barra has shown some impressive fish with 100, 99, 98, 98, 97 cm for a total of 492 points and while Freddy and Ben tried hard to catch up, Christopher is bringing home the title.



Be warned for the next one: Freddy Harbort was already asking for revenge 🙂

Christoph Barra claims Active Target Online Zander Open Title

Six weeks of a tough and exciting &#8220;battle&#8221; for the title of the <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="/tournaments/events/fisherino-perch-open" data-type="post" target="_blank">Online Perch Open</a>, presented by <a href="https://www.fisherino.de/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fisherino.de</a>, are over. We are sure everyone who followed the leaderboard agrees that it was a drama to follow the perch enthusiasts to bring a maximum of five perch to the scales.



Out of 86 competitors a massive amount of beautiful perch have been reported and the <a href="/tournaments/events/fisherino-perch-open#leaderboard" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">leaderboard</a> was changing every day. With the end of the event coming closer you could feel the tension rising and the competitors it was absolutely not clear who will take home the title until the last day of the competition.



On the final day the guys have given it all to improve their position in the leaderboard and more 50ups, including a 53 cm perch by <a href="/profile/sascha.boeckenberg">Sascha Böckenberg</a>, have been reported to shake up the ranking like a rollercoaster.



As in every sport, there can only be one winner&#8230; Well in our case it is two because <a href="/profile/kilian.grimm">Kilian Grimm</a> and <a href="/profile/goran.vidakovic">Goran Vidakovic</a> managed to finish the Online Perch Open not just with the same score, but also with the exact same length of every fish: 52, 52, 51, 50, 50 &#8211; Simply amazing!!! Also the 53 cm perch of <a href="/profile/sascha.boeckenberg">Sascha Böckenberg</a>, which is tying with another same size fish of <a href="/profile/jan.boomsma">Jan Boomsma</a>, for the biggest fish of the tournament did not enable Sascha to win as he fell 2 cm short to grab the title.



In the end we can proudly crown our first Online Perch Open champion/s <a href="/profile/goran.vidakovic">Goran Vidakovic</a> and <a href="/profile/kilian.grimm">Kilian Grimm</a> with an impressive score of 255. we thank you very much for participating and for the great interview in our <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uuzt5cbEElU" target="_blank">prize giving live-stream</a>.

Two Germans win the Online Perch Open with a bang!

After introducing a totally new form of tournament fishing, the <a href="/news/this-is-the-lure-masters-online-open">Lure Masters Online Open</a> format, it was an eventful 6 weeks of competitive fishing for almost 300 participants in the A.S.O. Online Pike Open, the ActiveTarget Online Zander Open and the Fisherino Online Perch Open.
The German Angler <a href="/profile/sascha.zepf">Sascha Zepf</a> already had a very good start into the event and reported the first 122 cm pike just a few hours after the start on May 29th. He was able to even top that with an insane pike of 132 cm on the same day!
Along with many others, <a href="/profile/patrick.wischermann">Patrick Wischermann</a>, <a href="/profile/kai.pohl">Kai Pohl</a> and <a href="/profile/johnny.vanalken">Johnny Vanalken</a> tried to catch up with Sascha Zepf until the very last minute of the tournament, changing the lead multiple times. It was super exciting until the very end, especially because of a huge <a href="/news/the-story-of-a-giant-pike-that-loves-attention/">pike with a very special story</a> showed up again on the last day, but in the end nobody was able to catch up with Sascha and he is bringing home the win with a total score of 387.
Most of the pike were caught during night time and Sascha was mixing it up fishing from boat and his <a href="https://www.hobie.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hobie</a> kayak while he caught some fish casting and some pelagic.

Sascha Zepf wins the first Online Pike Open

The first three Lure Masters Online Open tournaments are coming to an end on Saturday 10th of July. What a great tournament it was so far! It remains super exciting until the last minute as there are still a lot of great catches coming in that improve participant&#8217;s rankings.
In order to crown the champions of the <a href="/tournaments/events/aso-pike-open">A.S.O. Live-Stream Online Open Prize Giving

When it comes to tournament fishing, there is clearly one leading nation in the world: The United States of America. Fishing in general has a very long tradition in the USA and the history of tournament fishing goes back to 1967 when <a href="https://www.bassmaster.com/anglers/ray-scott" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ray Scott</a> organized the first official bass fishing tournament within the organization of the <a href="https://www.bassmaster.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (BASS)</a> which today is still offering a huge tournament structure from high-school fishing to the huge Bassmaster Classic where the best of the best pro anglers are competing for a big check, but much more important for the prestigious trophy. Also BASS is playing a big role when it comes to conservation.



Along with the BASS there was also the Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) which was acquired in 2020 by the newly formed <a href="https://majorleaguefishing.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Major League Fishing (MLF)</a>. Both of these big organizations are running different tournament formats, which are broadcasted in live streams and on television around the world. Also in some countries outside the USA there is a BASS nation and MLF tournament fishing structure, which enables the best anglers of each nation to compete in a major tournament in the USA.



When I was competing in my first <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://italybassnation.com/" target="_blank">Italy Bass nation</a> bass fishing tournament 10 years ago, I met a guy called <a href="https://www.instagram.com/jack.gallelli/" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.instagram.com/jack.gallelli/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jacopo Gallelli</a>. He was very open and supportive and helped me a lot with the questions we had about the tournament and even gave us some tips about fishing the lake. When we talked I noticed not just his passion for fishing and the sport, but also a clear will to become a champion. He already mentioned back in the days that his goal is to be a professional bass angler in the US and that he was &#8220;born on the wrong side of the ocean&#8221; to make this dream happen in an &#8220;easy&#8221; way. From that moment I met Jacopo many times and every time we met, he was very focussed and structured about what he was doing and he was even competing as individual angler in team tournaments in order to practice for future formats and maybe also to give him some extra challenge.



2018 was his year in Europe when not only became Italy BASS nation champion, but also FLW Italy champion in the same year. That way he qualified to compete in the BASS nation championship and did what nobody expected: He finished 3rd and qualified for the mighty Bassmaster Classic in 2019 as first European competitor.



Since then he decided to go all-in and stay in the US to make his dream come true. He entered into two MLF Open divisions and qualified in both to make it to the MLF pro circuit, where he has just won his first tournament in the United States on the Potomac River.



We want to congratulate Jacopo for following his heart and his passion in order to make it to the top. We know it has been a long road and we are proud to see you make history. Keep it up Jack!

The first European to win in the USA

We are very pleased about the positive feedback by the community about our new Lure Masters Online Open tournament format. Since the announcement of the first three Online Open Tournaments, over 260 anglers have already signed up (Note: Registration will still be possible during the tournament) and are looking forward to the official start on May 29th. Let the games begin

In January 2020, we took the helm of the Lure Masters fishing tournament to build something great on a very well established and well respected fishing competition that was already up and running for four years.
We made plans, we talked to sponsors, we designed a huge trophy, redesigned our CI and worked hard every day in order to run a great boat fishing event in September. Then something absolutely unexpected came in and put the world upside-down &#8211; COVID 19 &#8211; and unfortunately we had to <a href="/news/luremasters-2020-postponed-due-to-covid-19">postpone the Lure Masters 2020</a>. It was the only decision we could take and, of course, we saw a lot of disappointed faces within our great fishing community.


We kept our head up, had more meetings and talked to more people to come up with a new idea: A fishing tournament for everybody who wants to compete against other anglers, no matter the age, experience, or skill level. A tournament that brings the joy of fishing in alignment with the possibility to rank against others and success being shown in a leaderboard and being rewarded with great prizes by our <a href="/sponsors" data-type="URL" data-id="/sponsors">sponsors</a>.

<h2 id="online-concept">Online Concept</h2>



The online concept of the Lure Masters Online Open enables all competitors to go fishing whenever they want during the tournament times and according to the tournament rules. Once a scorable fish is caught, the angler is taking 2 pictures (one on the measuring board and one of the angler with the fish) to be uploaded to the Lure Masters site. Once approved it will show up in the live ranking. 



<h2 id="different-exciting-formats">Different exciting formats</h2>



With the newly developed Lure Masters <a href="/news/welcome-to-lure-masters-2-0" data-type="URL" data-id="/news/welcome-to-lure-masters-2-0">web-application</a>, we are able to offer you a variety of different tournament formats. We will start off with some single angler, single species tournaments, but you can be sure there will also be some more special events for many different species coming in the near future.



<h2 id="built-in-security">Built in security</h2>



We have built in a lot of security features in our measuring concept with the Lure Masters Online Open Measuring boards, like f.e. a unique daily catch code. And beside our independant jury who is verifying each of the two submitted pictures, we have also build in some tech features to verify your catch. 



<h2 id="angler-profiles">Angler profiles</h2>



Lure Masters Anglers can create a free account which enables the user to not only join competitions, but also showcase the success in the profile card. While you can already display your sponsors, your favorite way to fish and so on, we are also implementing angler stats to display some interesting inside information about each competitor.

Hello Fishing World,



Without a doubt it is difficult times for big public events these days, including fishing events like the Lure Masters. We always kept our heads up and tried to be positive. We came up with new ideas like the Lure Masters Online Open to offer anglers the possibility to compete while enjoying fishing and, at the same time, offer the visibility for our supporting sponsors.



As a re-design of our existing <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="http://www.luremasters.nl" target="_blank">luremasters.nl</a> website was on the agenda anyway, we took the extra step (let&#8217;s better say mile, or marathon) to implement the Lure Masters Online Open and add enough flexibility to run different event formats in the future.



Developing the new website, which actually is a web-application, we had the following key factors mind:



<h3 id="mobile-first-approach">Mobile first approach</h3>



In the world we are living in, we are online almost all the time. And we are using mobile devices almost every time. Following this trend, it was important to us to create a web app that can be used from any device. The possibility to upload catches also directly on our website enables us to be more flexible with the implementation of new features and new technologies. However, we might also release a mobile app in addition in the near future, again.



<h3 id="security">Security</h3>



Security and the protection of data on the internet is a crucial thing and it is luckily gaining more and more importance within the users as well. Luckily we have teamed up with a great developer who is also very precise when it comes to data protection and we have decided to work with tools that are not feeding the internet giants with user data.



For example we are using <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.hcaptcha.com/" target="_blank">hCaptcha</a> to prevent bots to access our site and <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.matomo.org/" target="_blank">Matomo</a> to be able to monitor our website.



Also we are using a minimum amount of Cookies in order to protect your privacy as good as we can. 



<h3 id="e-commerce-integration">E-Commerce Integration</h3>



Our goal was to optimize the registration process for our competitors in order to be able to buy tickets on first-come-first-serve basis. At the same time we wanted to make it easier for sponsors to buy tickets for their team anglers while receiving a correct invoice with their invoicing details. All this was quite an intense process, but we think we have found a pretty innovative solution.



Oh and if you want &#8211; there is also some nice <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://shop.luremasters.net/product-category/merch/" data-type="URL" data-id="https://shop.luremasters.net/product-category/merch/" target="_blank">caps</a> waiting for you and we are planning to have more merch in the near future (if you all want!?)

And here it is: our new web-application. After 4 month behind computers, countless liters of coffee, beer and many sleepless nights &#8211; our new web-application. It may not look like this amount of mentioned resources, but it was a lot of work and we are happy to share it with you. We hope you will like it and enjoy using it.



Of course, there is still a lot to be implemented over the next weeks and we are also eager to continuously implement new features &#8211; driven by the community &#8211; in the near future.

<h3 id="lure-masters-trophy-lead-free">Lure Masters Trophy lead-free</h3>



In May 2018 the Green Deal “Angling lead-free” was executed. This agreement among several Departments of State, the Union of Waterboards, Natuurmonumenten, a nature preservation organization, DIBEVO, the trade organisation for pet shops and the Dutch Angling Association “Sportvisserij Nederland” aim to gradually reduce and later ban the use of lead for angling purposes. During the next three years it is intended to reduce use of lead by 30% and after that period we will ban the use of lead completely, in the seven following years.



Lead is mostly used by anglers who need to cast their baits in order to keep it at a certain, stable place under water. At times lead is lost and waisted in waters. Lead is an environmentally undesired material, and in some&nbsp;circumstances poisonous for people and animals. That’s why for certain other purposes the use of lead is already prohibited, like in gasoline, paint, water pipes and hunting. In angling the use of lead sofar has not been prohibited.



<h3 id="a-better-environment-starts-with-yourself">A better environment starts with yourself&nbsp;</h3>



The Dutch Angling Association promotes a clean water environment for quite some time. In that effort it is fair to say that lead does not belong in our waters. Sportvisserij Nederland and the associated regional angling&nbsp;associations have decided as a next step to find alternatives and to commence reduction of the use of lead. A widely known: a better environment starts with yourself! “Sportvisserij Zuidwest Nederland” (an angling federation in the South West of the Netherlands (South Holland, Zealand, and North Brabant with 220 angling associations and 160.000 anglers) decided to stimulate angling competitions on a lead-free basis.



<h3 id="change-of-culture-at-all-levels">Change of culture at all levels</h3>



Our aim, in cooperation with Sportvisserij Zuidwest Nederland, is to achieve a different way of thinking among anglers, not only at the Lure Masters Trophy, but also on other levels. It is therefore important that the fishing ambassadors endorse lead-free fishing. Of course, Sportvisserij Zuidwest Nederland and all partners of the Green Deal will work with producers, dealers and other companies to produce, distribute and sell lead-free fishing gear in order to achieve this cultural change. It is our intention to do this in a kind way; e.g. by informing, stimulating and reaching agreements instead of enforcement. It takes time to change the culture, but we believe that it will gradually be adopted. We at Lure Masters would like to make our contribution in collaboration with Sportvisserij Nederland.

The Luremaster 2020 multi species tournament had to be <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="http://www.luremasters.nl/10/article/132/luremasters-2020-postponed-due-to-covid-19" target="_blank">postponed</a> as the COVID-19 situation did not allow us to run the event, at least for a big amount of international participants. With the ongoing pandemic and resulting lock-downs in different countries, we will not be allowed to run the event as planned from February 18th &#8211; 20th. With the upcoming closed season in the Netherlands (March, April, May) and the other upcoming events in June, we think it is the best solution to move the whole event to September 16th &#8211; 18th 2021. The field of competitors and the tournament format etc. will be the same and competitors do not need to sign up again.&nbsp;

There are only a few things that can force us to cancel the Luremasters – and one of them just became reality with the press conferences by the German and Belgian governments yesterday. Belgium, Germany and other countries have declared big parts of the Netherlads as risk areas, including South Holland where we were about to start the Luremasters in a week. This means that participants, organizers, volunteers and freelancers are not advised to visit these areas and if they go, they have to go the process of a COVID test, quarantine etc. This will affect everyone involved in the tournament returning to their jobs, families and so on and so forth. We know that you all want be fishing the Luremasters and that probably a lot of you would also go through this process after the tournament – and we also can’t wait to get the Luremasters going. However, we believe the only right decision in the given circumstances is to cancel the event as there are too many uncertainties for our participants and also for us as organizers. If we run an event for your it must be safe, fair and also fun. Also we think it would not be the right signal for the fishing sport, and our partners supporting the event, if we would run the event considering most of the participants must go through the process of testing and quarantine. All we can say for now is SORRY and that we have done everything we can to make the Luremasters happening. One of the very unlikely situations that could appear now became reality and we have to face it – there will be no Luremasters next week! We will work on everything that needs to be done now and we will get back to you shortly with news and also with possible new dates for the Luremasters Open. First of all, let us&nbsp;thank you&nbsp;all very much for the very positive feedback we have received about the transfer of ownership of the Luremasters tournament. We are overwhelmed and we are looking forward to continue what Volkmar, Hendrik-Jan and John have built over the last 4 years together with a great team of marshalls and a selection of great sponsors.



We are constantly working together with the former event organisation to make the shift as smooth as possible for everyone involved and we are doing everything we can to make one of the best fishing tournaments even better in the future years.

<h2 id="teams">Teams</h2>



We decided not to touch the one houndred, but we are happy to announce that we will open the event to&nbsp;99 teams&nbsp;in the 2020 edition.



<h2 id="entry-fee">Entry fee</h2>



The entry fee for the Luremasters 2020 will be 600€ per Team (300€ per Angler)&nbsp;



<h2 id="event-headquarters">Event Headquarters</h2>



We have chosen the beach bar&nbsp;<a href="https://www.debanaan.nl/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">&#8220;De Banaan&#8221;</a>&nbsp;as our main event location. It is right next to the boat ramp &#8220;De Banaan&#8221; where most of the competitors are going to put their boats into the water. Therefore its the best place to be as close as possilble to the action. The registration on 23.09.2020 is going to happen there as well as the live studio for our live stream will be in this location.



<h2 id="major-changes-for-2020">Major changes for 2020</h2>



We would like to keep the format pretty much as it is, however there are a few changes to consider before you sign up:



<ul><li>Fishing will only be allowed with one rod per angler at a time (no more trolling with 2 rods per Angler, no more &#8220;dead rod&#8221;)</li><li>Legal size of Perch is 30 cm</li></ul>



There might be a few other changes apply to the rules before the event starts, but these are the most important for you to consider. You can check the rules&nbsp;<a href="http://www.luremasters.nl/17/rules/">here</a>.



<h2 id="subscription-process">Subscription process</h2>



We are going to open the subscrition on Wednesday&nbsp;22.01.2019 at 17.00. The first 90 boats signed up will appear in the list and at the same time you receive an email with instructions for the payment of the entrance fee. The payment needs to be made within one week (until January 29th) in order to confirm the participation. If the entrance fee was not payed in that time, we are going to give the spot to the next team on a possible waiting list.



Please note that we are reserving 9 slots for sponsor teams. If these slots are not used, we will inform the teams on the possible waiting list in order of subscription.



Important: Only&nbsp;one member per team&nbsp;has to subscribe.

<h2 id="luremasters-2020-lustrum-edition-new-organisation-event-dates">Luremasters 2020 – Lustrum Edition – New Organisation – Event Dates</h2>



We received many messages regarding Luremasters 2020. “If, when, how”, but mainly: “can I subscribe please?” We know we have tested your patience, but the good news is: there will be a Luremasters 2020 Lustrum Edition, and subscriptions will open soon! All info will be shared on our Facebook and Website, so make sure to check for updates on a regular basis!



<h3 id="a-new-chapter">A new chapter</h3>



But before we dive into the 2020 Event, let’s look back on the past couple of months and why we took our time before announcing any news. As you all know we, Hendrik-Jan, John and Volkmar organize Luremasters as a part of our hobby, in our spare time. Spare time that got more and more limited over the years, while the workload Luremasters asks kept increasing. Either we do things right or we don’t do them at all, and so, after duly evaluating all options, we took a drastic decision. We will not continue running Luremasters.



<h3 id="looking-back">Looking back</h3>



Co-founded by Raymarine, in 2016 Hendrik Jan and Volkmar launched the Luremasters event. Putting together our combined knowledge about what we liked, but especially did not like about other tournaments, we formed a format in which Fishing, Fun and Fairness would always be the key factors. Another important aspect for us was being open to all types of anglers and all styles of fishing. After a successful tryout with 17 participating teams in 2016, 2017 proved that we made a good impression. We set the max to 60 boats and almost filled the tournament. Our friend John took the responsibility of being Head Marshall for the tournament and a group of Marshalls formed, consisting of Dutch and Belgian volunteers, who all became good friends with each other and ourselves. Team spirit in optima forma that never faded, over the years to come.



And then things started to roll! 2018: 60 Spots sold out within 2 days and a very long reserve list. 2019, We upsized to 90 boats because we could much use the financial input to let the event grow more professional, without compromising on our key values. Fully booked within 10 hours after opening the subscription!



All of a sudden Luremasters is among the biggest tournaments in Europe. The name, the fame, it also put quite some pressure on us ‘spare time organizers’. With the event, our sponsors grew and with them responsibilities. John joined the organization in order to be able to split the workload by three instead of two, but still the workload was significant, if not problematic at times.



The 2019 Event was again a big success and after the event our inboxes exploded with questions about 2020. But for us it was important to evaluate, are we able to continue like this? Our conclusion for ourselves to continue was “no”, But we would also hate to see all our work and effort dissolve. So what to do? We gave it a week’s time to think things over and then make a final decision.



<h3 id="new-owners">New owners!</h3>



And then “out of the blue”, Christian Biereth contacts us. President of SWAT FISHING and BASSBOAT GERMANY, multiyear main event sponsor for the WPC and above all, tournament enthusiast. “Another guy asking for 2020 dates”, but this time with a different goal, as he told us he wanted to organize a new, to be formed tournament/event in 2020 and not end up with conflicting dates.



After some internal discussion, we quickly came together for a meeting, to exchange plans and explore options. Christian brought his business partner Timo Ruff and within an hour after we met up, we knew this was a perfect next step for all parties.



We decided to hand over the Luremasters tournament, brand and all things attached to Christian and Timo. It just felt right, a kick start for Christian and Timo, and for us it means Luremasters will continue to exist. Christian and Timo will run Luremasters from now on.



<h2 id="so-did-we-disappear-just-now">So, did we disappear just now?</h2>



Of course the handover of Luremasters is no one-day job and for the 2020 Lustrum Event, Hendrik-Jan, John and Volkmar will assist Christian and Timo in the background, with the organization of the event. Christian and Timo have big plans for the future and we are much interested to see how Luremasters will evolve.



What remains for us is to thank all sponsors who we have worked with over the years. Without sponsors the tournament would not have existed. Especially co-founder and main event sponsors Raymarine, but let’s not forget Crestliner, Yamaha, Pega, Navionics, Bifi &amp; Jacklink’s, Flambeau Outdoors Europe, MDSI, Raven, EBBM and many others. Fish data, some will think &#8220;why bother, I&#8217;ll go fishing anyway&#8221;. &#8220;Fishing is no science&#8221;, well, it might not be, but still data can bring interesting insights.



With 1620 Fish reported thru our app, we collected quite a database, which we processed into the graphs shown below. This second episode shows the 3 days on Lake Haringvliet. The graphs show the amount of fish per hour, against one of the environmental influences on the fish&#8217; activity. Added to the equation is the tidal influence.

Lake Hollandsdiep proofed to be the zander lake for this tournament. If you struggled on this lake catching zander, you would definately see that in your end result. The amount of perch caught was relatively low and the sized definately smaller than on the other lakes.

Fish Data 2019 – Hollandsdiep

We kept fishing zones quiet for as long as possible, to give everybody the same chance during competition. Fishing zones are under reservation and can be changed by the organization at all time, when weather or other factors force us. The sequence in which we will fish the different lakes will be decided on a daily base, taking into account weather conditions.



<h2 id="rules">Rules </h2>



We refer to the <a href="http://www.luremasters.nl/17/rules/">rules</a> stated here, but to further exhibit the rules regarding fishing zones and forbidden zones:



<ul><li>Fishing maps shown here are to be used as reference only. Dutch Rules apply at all time</li><li>We followed official Dutch rules and marked all nature reserve areas and other forbidden zones like traffic lanes and main harbors red. These forbidden zones are marked on all lakes by buoys or wooden posts with signs. You are not allowed to enter these zones with your boat. If a referee sees you driving the boat in a forbidden zone, whether it’s one meter or fifthly, you will lose your biggest fish of that day and get a yellow card. No discussion possible. A second fault will result in disqualification.</li><li>You are allowed to cast into the red zones, but don’t push it, and stay clear from the outer boundaries of the forbidden zones. Play safe and fair.</li><li>You are not allowed to fish within 50 meters of any harbor entrance</li></ul>

Regarding lake Volkerak, we were also surprised by &#8220;the ammount of red&#8221;, but we can only follow the rules. Make sure you stay outside the main traffic lane (marked by big red and green buoys) and outside the zones marked with buoys like the ones shown below. There are still plenty of weedbeds and structures left, it&#8217;s a big lake.

Below we will briefly explain how it will work: Subscription: 1) The official subscription for the tournament can be done via the luremasters website 2) If you encounter any problems please use the contact form to notify us. You can ask your questions in English, Dutch, German, French (Yes all of those) 3) Your subscription is only final after full payment 4) Subscriptions are processed in the order of payment, if you subscribe but fail to pay another team may take your place. 5) Please fill out the full subscription form

1) The official contest location is Citta Romana in Hellevoetsluis 2) Thursday before the start of the tournament you are to report here for the boat check and to draw a starting water 3) There is a <a href="http://www.luremasters.nl/10/article/68/citta-romana-official-event-location">deal </a>with Citta to rent houses at a reduced rate 4) You can share the house with other teams, post a message on the Luremasters Facebook page to get in contact with other teams. 5) Every day there is a wrapup which is to be held in Citta Romana. Here, we hope to serve a meal for all participants 6) The official prizegiving is also to be held at Citta Romana Matches: 1) On Thursday a start water is drawn. This will determine the order in which waters will be fished 2) Getting on the water for the day is done by driving your car and trailer to the trailer ramp and putting your boat in the water. The ramp is also the official place where the day will start so you have to report here. 3) At the end of the day you put your boat back on the trailer so you can report at the next body of water the next day. We krijgen wat vragen over slaapplaatsen in het toernooi, inschrijven en hoe je op het wedstrijdwater komt. We want to offer the participant the greatest possible variety of fishing spots and possible tactics. <h2 id="lake-volkerak">Lake Volkerak</h2>



Divided from lake Hollandsdiep by a dam, lake Volkerak is the only lake without tidal influences. Notorious for usually tough fishing, yet there’s always a chance of hooking up with a monstrous pike. And do not underestimate the Perch and Zander in this lake. They might be not as plentiful as on the tidal lakes, but they are big! Lake Volkerak is a typical pike water. Clear water, plenty of big weed beds and a lot of open water where the monsters lurk in the deep.



<h2 id="lake-haringvliet">Lake Haringvliet</h2>



Lake Haringvliet is famous for its world record size Perch. Not only do they achieve great lengths here, the amount and variety of food makes them extremely fat too. The lake is characterized by deep channels and rocky banks, where big mussel banks and opulent weed beds reign. The water is clear to crystal clear for most of the year and, apart from the record size Perch, hold a healthy stock of Pike, Zander and Asp as well.



<h2 id="lake-hollandsdiep">Lake Hollandsdiep</h2>



In between Lake Haringvliet and the rivers Dordtsche Kill, Nieuwe Merwede and Amer lays Lake Hollandsdiep. Fish migrate up and down this estuary system, that has the most tidal influence of the three. Watercolor can change quickly here when the rivers drain water into the system, but also wind in combination with mostly a sandy bottom sometimes makes it a tricky water to fish. Mostly known for good numbers of Zander, this lake also holds a healthy Pike and Perch stock, with some true specimens to be caught. &nbsp;
